Senior Connectivity Engineer
As MOIA America, we develop and realize fully autonomous mobility and transportation services. Our mission is to make mobility-and transportation-as-a-service safe, accessible and most attractive for society. For that, we cover the entire ground from strategy and business development, software development and end-2-end integration, fleet operations to next-generation self-driving systems. Being the driver in Volkswagen Group initiative for mobility solutions, we’re an integral part of Volkswagen Group's future success.
Brief Role Description
A Senior Connectivity Engineer responsible for leading end-to-end validation and integration of wireless communication systems across telecom, automotive, and IoT platforms. The role involves deep technical ownership of modem and connectivity features (5G/LTE, Wi-Fi, eSIM), system-level testing, and cross-domain integration spanning embedded devices, vehicle networks, and backend services. The position requires advanced troubleshooting, automation development, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure robust, scalable, and high-quality connectivity solutions in complex, safety-critical environments.
Role Responsibilities
End-to-End System Integration & Connectivity Validation – 30%
- Lead integration and validation of connectivity across telecom, automotive ECUs, IoT devices, and backend/cloud systems
- Validate technologies including 5G (SA/NSA), LTE, Wi-Fi, eSIM, IMS, and NTN
- Ensure seamless system-of-systems communication (device ↔ modem/ecu ↔ vehicle ↔ cloud)
Test Strategy, Design & Execution – 25%
- Design and execute comprehensive test plans covering functional, protocol, regression, and black-box testing
- Validate features such as eSIM, roaming, emergency services (eCall), and carrier aggregation
- Ensure coverage of networking protocols (TCP/IP, MQTT, IMS signaling, etc.)
Performance, Stability & Field Validation – 20%
- Conduct stability, MTBF, and performance testing
- Execute drive tests to validate real-world scenarios (handover, weak/no signal, roaming)
- Analyze KPIs such as throughput, latency, reliability, and power consumption
- Lead and coordinate incident response for high-severity events
- Conduct post-incident reviews and drive long-term remediation and resilience improvements
Automation, Debugging & Continuous Integration – 15%
- Develop automation scripts using Python and Robot Framework
- Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines and support SiL/HiL environments
- Perform log analysis and root cause investigation using tools like QXDM, Wireshark, adb
Diagnostics, Quality Assurance & Collaboration – 10%
- Perform ECU diagnostics and flashing using tools like ODIS; validate CAN/UDS communication
- Manage defect lifecycle using JIRA/ALM tools and ensure release quality
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and document test results, procedures, and best practices
