A cookie is a small data record that is saved on your end device and contains data such as personal page settings and login information, for example. These data records are produced and sent to you by the web server which you connected to using your web browser. We generally use cookies to analyze interest in our web pages and to make our web pages more user-friendly.
You can always access our web pages without enabling cookies. If you want to use our web pages in full and in the most convenient way possible, however, you should accept cookies that allow you to use certain functions or make the website easier to use. You can find information on the purpose of the cookies we use in the overview below.
By using our web pages with your browser set to accept cookies, you agree to the use of these cookies. Most browsers are set by default to accept all cookies. However, you can adjust your browser settings in such a way that cookies are displayed before being saved, only certain cookies are accepted or declined, or cookies are declined as standard.
We would like to remind you that changes to the settings always only relate to the browser you change them in. If you use various browsers or change your end device, you will have to change the settings again. You can also delete cookies from your data storage device at any time. Please refer to your web browser’s help function for information on cookie settings, how to change these settings and how to delete cookies.
Cookies can be divided into the following four categories based on their function and processing purpose.
- Technically necessary cookies are essential for the correct functioning of the Application. The processing of these cookies are necessary to enable you to use the website navigation and offered functions. Examples of technically necessary cookies are those for your language selection or for your selection in the Cookie Manager.
- Performance cookies may be used to improve website performance and user experience. Using the performance cookies, we can, for example, recognize the user behavior of a visitor on the website, such as the operating system used or the internet browser used. The aggregation of the data analysis results do not allow any conclusion on the website user.
- Functional cookies may increase the convenience and functionality of the application, e.g. for the provision of a YouTube plugin. The cookies enable us to remember the input data you’ve made such as for instance, for example, your user name, form entries, geographical region and settings. These cookies helps us to deliver specific features and experiences to their users.
- In order to create a pseudonymized user profile, tracking cookies may be used to offer you advertising and content tailored to your interests. Your data is also used to limit the frequency with which an advertisement appears and to measure and control the effectiveness of campaigns. The cookies register whether you have visited a website or not, as well as which content has been used. They are based on a unique identification of your browser and your internet device.
Different types of cookies are used within the described categories. The following are the most common types of cookies explained to your understanding:
- While you are active on a web page, a session cookie is temporarily stored in the memory of your end device, in which a session ID is stored, for example, to prevent you from having to log in again each time you switch websites. Session cookies will be deleted upon logout or will lose their validity, as soon as your session has automatically expired.
- A permanent or log-cookie stores a file on your device for the period specified in the expiration date. These cookies "remind" web pages of your information and settings on your next visit. This results in a faster and more convenient access, for example, because you do not have to change your language setting for our portal again. With the expiry of the expiration date, the cookie is automatically deleted when you visit the website that created it.
- Third-party cookies come from providers other than the operator of the web page. They may be used for example to collect information for advertising or generate custom content and web statistics.
Our websites may contain links to third-party websites, plug-ins and applications. Clicking on those links or enabling those connections may allow third parties to collect or share data about you. We do not control these third-party websites and are not responsible for the content of, security or cookie policy of such sites. We recommend that you check the privacy, cookie and security policies of each website or social media service that you visit and/or sign up to.
