Join us and be part of this exciting journey!

YOUR TEAM

Our team develops a scalable, global technology stack for NCAP up to Level 4 Driving and Parking functions that can continously be updated to recent state of the art. Our technology will power basic driver assistance as well as advanced automated Driving and Parking functions for all brands within Volkswagen Group.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Design, train and deploy deep learning models for our assisted and autonomous driving system
  • Work with multi-modal sensor data (camera, lidar, radar, map, odometry etc.) and apply techniques such as convolutional neural networks, transformers and recurrent models to extract semantic and spatial understanding of the vehicle driving environment: Vehicles, pedestrians, signs, road structure, hazard objects and more information that’s relevant for the automated driving task
  • Design scalable data pipelines for training, validation, error analysis and continuous improvement of ML models
  • Analyze and optimize real-time embedded performance across diverse driving scenarios and edge cases to ensure reliability and generalization
  • Apply model compression and optimization techniques (e.g., quantization, pruning, distillation) to enable efficient inference on embedded hardware
  • Close cooperation with other teams to design and integrate the algorithms into our common ADAS/AD architecture and real-time automotive software stack
  • Participate in process-conform specification and testing of our SW components (e.g. ASPICE, SOTIF)
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research in deep learning, computer vision, and autonomous systems, and translate insights into practical solutions

WHO YOU ARE

  • University degree (Master or PhD preferred) in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Data Science & Scientific Computing, Machine Learning & Data Analytics, Mathematics or a related field with relation to AI
  • At least two years of practical experience in data analytics, design and training of (deep) neuronal networks and common ML frameworks such as PyTorch, Tensorflow, and TensorRT
  • Proficient in software development and programming C++, Python, ensuring high software quality
  • Understanding of automotive software development practices and safety standards (e.g., ASPICE, ISO 26262, SOTIF) is beneficial
  • Familiarity with multi-task learning, sensor fusion, or end-to-end AI systems is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and in teams
  • Very good communication skills in English. German is a plus

At CARIAD, we embrace individuality and diversity because we believe our differences make us stronger. We actively seek to build teams with a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences. Our goal is to create an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute.
