YOUR TEAM

Our Team “Driver Demand” (Vehicle Motion) is excited to offer a Master Thesis opportunity focused on the development of an advanced controlling algorithm for various low speed driving situations in our newest Software Defined Vehicle (SDV). Our current solution has achieved the highest standards on the car market regarding drivability, sportiness and comfort in various driving situations. The goal of this project is to improve it even further by using advanced controlling algorithms. You will have the chance to gain hands-on experience in model-based development and production C code as well software and vehicle testing.
Research question: How can an advanced controlling algorithm improve vehicle drivability, sportiness and comfort in various low speed driving situations?

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Conduct extensive literature research on controlling algorithms used for low speed applications in passenger vehicles
  • Model-based development of an advanced controlling algorithm in MATLAB Simulink
  • Testing of the controller in various low speed situations in a Software-In-The-Loop (SIL) environment
  • Verification of the controller design in a test vehicle on proofing grounds
  • Comparison of the newly developed controller with the current solution
  • Present the results and framework in a scientific paper

WHO YOU ARE

  • Enrolled student in the field of Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable degree program
  • Broad knowledge of control algorithms and control theory (e.g., through specialization with advanced lectures, courses, projects, etc.)
  • Knowledge of vehicle dynamics
  • Familiarity with model-based development (MATLAB Simulink)
  • Basic knowledge of the C programming language
  • Experience in model-based software development is an advantage
  • Team-oriented, growth-driven, goal-oriented, and communicative

NICE TO KNOW

  • Remote work options within Germany
  • Duration: 6 months
  • 35-hour week

At CARIAD, we embrace individuality and diversity because we believe our differences make us stronger. We actively seek to build teams with a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences. Our goal is to create an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute.
