Work environment

The press shop manufactures structural and outer skin parts, which are further processed in subsequent production stages such as body shop, paint shop, and assembly. The Wolfsburg plant houses the largest press shop in the world, supplying Volkswagen Group plants globally. In Technical Planning, we are a dedicated team that designs and implements innovative solutions directly linked to production in the press shop. You can expect an innovative and challenging research topic characterized by its interdisciplinary nature, covering areas such as forming technology, automation technology, metrology, computer vision, data science, IT, and databases. Possible Tasks within this Role

  • Developing a doctoral dissertation in the field of "inline surface inspection"
  • Expanding quality inspection systems in the press shop
  • Further developing and optimizing existing quality inspection processes
  • Participating in topic-related working groups as well as independently managing and coordinating projects
  • Learning about and supporting planning processes in the press shop

 

The final doctoral topic is defined together with the professor. The prerequisite for the cooperation is the confirmation of supervision as well as a confirmed delimitation of topics by the professor of a university or research institution entitled to confer a doctorate.

Qualification requirements

  • Good to excellent university degree qualifying for doctoral studies in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, computer science, or comparable fields
  • Knowledge and experience in metrology and automation technology as well as programming
  • Proficient in MS Office applications
  • Strong team skills, independence, and reliability
  • Structured working style
  • German language level C1
