Brief Role Description

As part of Volkswagen Group Innovation, our team deals with AI & Data Analytics tasks in the development of digital services for different Volkswagen Group brands. This includes topics such as processing and analyzing vehicle data as well as integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into digitized vehicles. State-of-the-art AI methods address perception and scene understanding problems in automated driving. We investigate the effect of difficult and adverse driving scenarios as part of testing processes. Within these fields of innovation, we offer you the possibility to participate in the research and development of intelligent algorithms in an interdisciplinary team and to help shape the mobility of tomorrow.

Possible Tasks within this Role

  • Undertaking a PhD in the research area "Generative AI for Autonomous Driving"

  • Collaborating on a complex problem in the exciting field of automated driving, particularly with deep neural networks for scene understanding and scenario generation

  • Developing algorithms for the systematic detection of traffic scenes with anomalies or adverse conditions

  • Using generative AI for the synthetic creation or augmentation of scenarios

  • Investigating such methods and publishing selected results at scientific conferences or in professional journals

 

The final doctoral topic is defined together with the professor (f/m/d). The prerequisite for the cooperation is the confirmation of supervision as well as a confirmed delimitation of topics by the professor (f/m/d) of a university or research institution entitled to confer a doctorate.

Qualification requirements

  • Good to very good university degree with eligibility for a doctorate in computer science, robotics, mathematics, physics, engineering or comparable courses

  • Fluent English skills (at least B2 level)

  • Good knowledge of programming with Python, C++

  • Profound knowledge in machine learning (ML) and in ML frameworks such as PyTorch

  • EU driving license (passenger car)
