Join our forward thinking team at the forefront of integrating quantum technologies, transformer architectures, large language models (LLMs), and high-performance computing (HPC) in the automotive sector. Since 2019, Volkswagen Group Innovation has been the foundation for a global innovation ecosystem focused on sustainable and customer-oriented innovations. Cross-border collaboration and the close integration of locations enable new paths for technology development in the deep-tech sector. Innovation centers in various regions (Europe, Asia, California) pool local knowledge and expertise, providing the optimal infrastructure for our many partners and innovators to derive international solutions from regional challenges and needs. To support our innovative projects, we are looking for dedicated students and offer diverse insights into our research activities. Here, you will work both independently and as part of our interdisciplinary team. If desired, it is possible to write a thesis.

Possible Tasks within this role

  • Analyzing and developing groundbreaking technologies for vehicle optimization, materials science, and energy efficiency in the automotive context
  • Developing AI and quantum computing concepts, strategies, and their implications for the mobility of the future
  • Processing and critically examining the obtained insights
  • Preparing, visualizing, and communicating the results, as well as contributing to the creation of decision-making templates
  • Collaborating and supporting projects within the department

Qualification requirements

  • Students in the fields of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Physics, or comparable study programs
  • Knowledge in quantum computing, large-scale AI models, parallel computing techniques, GPU acceleration, or relevant technical know-how is advantageous
  • Affinity for strategic issues in the automotive environment as well as openness to interdisciplinary topics
  • Prior experience in research projects, publications, or contributions to open-source projects is advantageous
  • Excellent study results, international experience desirable
  • German and English language level B2
