Applications are invited from suitably qualified & experienced candidates to fill the Temporary Supllier Readiness Engineer position in the Projects & Central Functions Department - Purchasing (Kariega)

Brief Role Description

To monitor and control the local part development at suppliers for critical parts.  To ensure that the corporate milestones according to PEP are supported. Supplier is ready and capable of supporting the corporate millstones with parts for the various builds. Ensure on time submission of sample parts as per the agreed committed timing via the corporate systems with all legal and relative supporting documentation. Through early planning and monitoring of suppliers and product processes, by conducting regular, one on one discussion with the suppliers at their production facilities and nominated toolmakers. Reaching agreements on timing for the projects. Setting up secondary project mile stones. Consulting on tooling and facility designs and manufacturing processes. ``Trouble-Shooting`` shortly before and after the Start Of Production will be minimized.

Possible Tasks within this Role

Ensuring that, predominantly, suppliers are able to supply parts timeously, according to VWGA requirements, with fully functional tooling and equipment whilst meeting the confirmed capacity allocations for VWGA. With the required actions comes the need to effectively communicate, any issues as well as progress, internally as well as to all other departments within VW and to the respective supplier

Qualification requirements

A Technical Degree / Diploma in an engineering field (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or Polymer)

Experience needed

  • At least 5 years of experience in key technologies such as plastics, Plastic injections moulding and/or manufacturing processes
  • Experience in tool manufacturing and/or design and/or project management

Essentials

  • The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Project Management and technically sound
  • Ability to interpret technical data and drawings
  • Negotiation & Problem-solving skills
  • Oral and written Communication skills
  • Above average computer literacy, especially MS Office package
  • Project Management skills
  • Customer interface and Conflict management skills
  • Self- motivated and driven
  • Basic German language proficiency

The successful candidates must be willing to travel both nationally and internationally. Be prepared to work outside of the standard office hours as and when required
