ABOUT THE ROLE

The Supervisor Production & Logistics IT Projects leads a team responsible for managing business and IT projects valued at up to R20 million throughout the full project lifecycle, ensuring project objectives are achieved and aligned with the company’s strategic goals. The role supports the translation of operational needs into effective business solutions by overseeing the gathering, analysis, and documentation of clear business requirements and functional specifications, while ensuring all end-to-end project and change requirements are met. Operating in an environment of medium- to high-complexity business challenges, the supervisor provides guidance on issues that may not have established precedents, while maintaining effective stakeholder communication, monitoring project progress, and ensuring deadlines and deliverables are successfully achieved. This position is based in the Information Technology Department (Kariega)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engage with key stakeholders to understand business needs and develop strong business cases that support strategic objectives.
  • Plan, define, scope, and manage IT and business projects from initiation to closure, ensuring alignment with company standards, methodologies, and strategies.
  • Deliver projects within agreed cost, time, quality, and performance parameters while achieving intended business outcomes.
  • Build, lead, and manage high-performing project teams, ensuring the appropriate resources, skills, and support are available.
  • Implement and maintain effective project governance, including quality, risk, change control, and issue management processes.
  • Provide accurate project reporting, forecasting, and stakeholder communication to ensure transparency and informed decision-making.
  • Monitor project budgets, resources, vendors, and return on investment, ensuring efficient use of capital and operational expenditure.
  • Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications, supporting solution design, development, testing, and implementation.
  • Drive continuous improvement by researching emerging technologies, recommending innovative solutions, and enhancing business systems and processes.
  • Provide technical leadership, user support, and team development while ensuring clear objectives, productivity, compliance, and comprehensive project documentation

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B. Sc/ B. Comm/ B. Sc Eng degree or related diploma in IT
  • Prince 2 foundation

Experience:

  • Proven track record in managing multiple, large scale IT projects
  • Has worked on and successfully delivered several complex projects
  • Motor Industry knowledge and experience (added advantage)
  • Experienced in both Waterfall and Agile development
  • Has between 3 and 5 years experience working concurrently on several analysis engagements varying in size and complexity

Technical & Behavioral Competencies:

  • Project & Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of project management, business and IT processes, technology trends, systems analysis, databases, and solution design.
  • Leadership & Communication: Effective team leader with strong stakeholder management, communication, influencing, negotiation, and customer-focused skills.
  • Ownership & Problem Solving: Proactive, self-motivated, and results-driven, with excellent time management, teamwork, and the ability to take ownership and resolve issues effectively
