Applications are invited from suitably qualified & experienced candidates to fill the SSA Volume Planning Specialist position in the VW Passenger Vehicles Department - NSO (Sandton)
Brief Role Description
Based in Sandton within the VW Passenger Vehicles department in the SSA, the successful incumbent will be responsible to co-ordinate key activities pertaining to the VW SSA Passenger short range sales forecasting process by ensuring all aspects of vehicle introduction, sales potential and stock management is considered to ensure optimal planning and realistic market share targeting
Possible Tasks within this Role
- Analyze economic conditions to develop VW volume strategy for each SSA market.
- Annually prepare the VW Volume inputs for the Planning Rounds integrating long range market studies to inform Brand inputs
- Co-ordinate and oversee the Sales forecast to ensure a high level of accuracy that is realistic.
- Short term = monthly, Mid Term = annual, Long Term = Planning Round for 5-year horizon
- Ensure a high level of accuracy for all measurements
- Coordinate and manage data input into Group Sales Planning systems to ensure accuracy.
- Responsible for stock management in market:
- Negotiate with Importers on the appropriate levels of stock by model
- Negotiation of production requirements with Group via email and discussions to assist stock requirements
- Management of the operation of group systems supporting vehicle planning and ordering functionality (IMF/FPL/NADCON/LAP)
- Compiled sales forecasts and conducted volume studies to support product innovations and assess risks and opportunities for new models.
- Managed monthly stock orders and oversaw model planning to provide sales teams with accurate data and minimize obsolescence and costs.
- Manage mix planning for VW Passenger brand with Sales and NSO Controlling, adjusting engine, transmission, and options based on market performance and competition.
- Providing support to the Volume Planning Manager to ensure deadlines are achieved and work is at a high level of accuracy
- Liaising with NSO Controlling and Finance to meet required deadlines for systems upload
- Ensure vehicle ordering aligns with sales forecasts for FBU and SKD vehicles, ensuring accurate information flows through the system.
- Collaborated with Distribution to process new vehicle invoicing, plan vehicle shipments, prepare volume studies in Autovision for SKD and logistics planning, and process monthly payment orders with Accounts
SUPPLY CHAIN
- Manage the weekly Production Orders & Pipeline fulfillment, with inputs from Business Managers and align with South Africa.
- Ensure the use of the Standard Verification Template for successful order loading (placement) on NADIN.
- Review all production orders placed by markets, fix errors and inform markets accordingly.
- Prepared the weekly Product Summary Report for circulation to key stakeholders and the monthly Production Order Report for Region Africa Stock Steering meetings."
Qualification requirements
A formal 3-year National diploma or Bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution in Commerce/ Finance/ Marketing /Business Management, A post-graduate qualification will be beneficial |
Experience needed
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience within the automotive industry, ideally within some of the following fields:
- Sales
- Product planning/ marketing
- Volume Planning
- Minimum of 4 years at staff level
Essentials
- Good understanding of VWSA/Group systems, knowledge of the VW Passenger product range, and experience in systems, processes, and people management, along with advanced computer skills.
- Excellent analytical skills with a structured, logical approach and strong strategic and conceptual thinking capabilities
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet set deadlines whilst maintaining strict quality standards
- Sound understanding of the automotive market and competitive environment
- Technical understanding of vehicle systems and technology, with specific reference to VW Passenger products
- Strong communication, presentation, and numeracy skills, with a focus on accuracy and detail in working with numeric data.
- Confidently interact and negotiate with senior management and stakeholders, with strong leadership, innovation, and results-driven skills
