Role Summary
The Vehicle & Parts Logistics Graduate Analyst will participate in a structured rotational program across Vehicle Logistics Planning, Parts Logistics Transportation, and Domestic Transportation & Port Operations. This role is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of Volkswagen Group’s end-to-end logistics operations — from the global movement of finished vehicles to the distribution of service parts across North America. The analyst will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to optimize logistics networks, enhance cost efficiency, and improve delivery performance across brands and markets.
Role Responsibilities
Vehicle Logistics Planning & Strategy:
This rotation focuses on strategic planning, bid management, and process optimization for Volkswagen’s vehicle logistics network. The analyst will gain exposure to global logistics coordination, vendor management, and data-driven decision-making across vehicle transportation and port operations.
- Support project management and bid preparation processes for vehicle transportation and port operations.
- Assist with requirements clarification, volume and budget forecasting, and vendor selection analysis.
- Conduct network analysis to evaluate logistics efficiency and identify opportunities for optimization.
- Contribute to damage prevention and claims management initiatives.
- Support rate auditing, cost analysis, and budget forecasting activities.
Parts Logistics – Transportation:
This rotation provides hands-on experience with transportation bid management, financial tracking, and operational coordination for Volkswagen’s parts logistics network. The analyst will work closely with carriers and internal teams to support cost control and network performance.
- Support the preparation and execution of RFQs, including data collection, criteria definition, and financial analysis.
- Coordinate technical and commercial reviews with transportation carriers.
- Assist in updating financial tracking and spending forecasts for transportation activities.
- Identify cost trends and root causes through data-driven analysis.
- Establish communication processes for addressing transportation issues and stakeholder updates.
- Support transportation carrier transitions and operational improvements.
Port Operations:
This rotation emphasizes the operational execution and performance monitoring of vehicle transportation within the U.S. The analyst will learn how logistics operations, vendor performance, and quality standards align to achieve seamless vehicle delivery.
- Provide daily operational support to ensure timely, damage-free rail and truck deliveries.
- Monitor vendor performance to evaluate service quality and compliance with KPIs.
- Communicate with brand stakeholders and logistics partners to resolve operational challenges.
- Participate in vendor meetings to align performance objectives and strategic improvements.
- Support special projects, ad hoc requests, and process documentation initiatives.
- Assist in invoice processing and development of workflow templates for improved efficiency.
Qualifications
Preferred Degree: Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Transportation & Logistics Management, Global Logistics Management, Global Commerce & Transportation, Business Analytics, or Operations Management.
Specialized Skills:
- Project management and process optimization.
- Vendor and contract management experience.
- Data analysis, cost tracking, and financial forecasting.
- Understanding of quality management and rate audit procedures.
- Knowledge of logistics network optimization and transportation systems.
Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) for data analysis and reporting.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
