Graduate Analyst - Finance

Brief Role Description

The Financial Analysis Graduate Analyst will participate in a structured rotational program across Business Performance Controlling (Sales & Marketing), Financial Services Controlling, and Treasury Operations. This role provides a comprehensive understanding of Volkswagen Group of America’s financial performance, supporting decision-making across key business units. The analyst will gain exposure to financial reporting, forecasting, and cash management, developing the analytical and strategic mindset essential for a successful career in corporate finance.

Possible Tasks within this Role

Business Performance Controlling (Sales & Marketing):
This rotation focuses on understanding how financial analysis supports business performance within Sales and Marketing. The analyst will learn how to evaluate incentives, margins, and marketing effectiveness to drive profitability and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

•    Support incentive and margin controlling to evaluate profitability by product and channel.
•    Assist with marketing budget analysis and financial reporting
•    Develop presentations and reports summarizing business performance trends and opportunities.
•    Conduct data analysis to identify cost drivers and performance variances.
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial insights with commercial strategies.

 

Financial Services Controlling:
In this rotation, the analyst will support the Financial Services division, gaining experience in analyzing revenue, costs, and key financial indicators related to automotive financing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

•    Prepare regular financial reports and variance analyses for Financial Services.
•    Support month-end closing and reporting activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
•    Assist in developing tools to improve financial tracking and performance transparency.
•    Analyze performance metrics to identify opportunities for optimization.
•    Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders to support data-driven decision-making.

 

Treasury Operations:
This rotation introduces the analyst to corporate treasury operations, focusing on cash flow management, liquidity planning, and short-term investments. The analyst will learn how effective treasury management supports overall business stability and strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities:

•    Support daily cash management functions, including forecasting and reconciliation.
•    Assist in monitoring liquidity positions and short-term financing needs.
•    Contribute to treasury reporting and support audit or compliance documentation.
•    Collaborate with internal partners to ensure efficient and compliant cash flow operations.
•    Support ad hoc projects related to process optimization and treasury system improvements.

Qualification requirements

Preferred Degree: Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related analytical field.

•    Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
•    Strong analytical and data visualization skills.
•    Knowledge of cash management and financial forecasting concepts.
•    Highest level of integrity and attention to detail.
•    Financial modeling and data analysis proficiency.
•    Advanced Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel and PowerPoint).
•    Effective written and verbal communication for reports and presentations.
•    Strong collaboration and relationship-building across teams.
•    Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver accurate results under tight deadlines.
