Quality Engineer

Applications are invited from suitably qualified & experienced candidates to fill the Quality Engineer (Paint Shop) position in the QA Vehicle Manufacturing Department - Quality Assurance (Kariega) 

Brief Role Description

To plan, define, co-ordinate and be accountable for Quality audits and inspections in Press, Body, Paint and Assembly shops. To maintain and improve product surface quality and mechanical joints by monitoring and reporting on non–conformances and processes.Drive product improvements based on top faults detected by investigating route causes and initiating corrective actions to meet Konzern Quality standards and provide continuous improvements.

Possible Tasks within this Role

  • Establishing root causes and implement corrective actions for allocated quality problems.
  • Interfacing with various departments within VWSA
  • Present findings/reports at various forums
  • Liaising with overseas counterparts with regard to build/quality matters
  • Co-ordinate and be accountable for Quality issues.
  • Lead cross functional teams when required.
  • Monitor and reporting of non-conformances and processes and initiating corrective actions to drive early detection.

Qualification requirements

Have a minimum National Diploma in Chemistry/Polymer/Mechanical Engineering

Experience needed

Have 3 -5 years’ experience within the manufacturing industry

Essentials

  • Have good report writing and presentation skills
  • Have proven analytical and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of Body and Paint Shop production processes
  • Sound knowledge of colouristics of colour management to analyze and interpret results
  • Sound knowledge of paint processes and corrosion prevention
  • Be computer literate in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Be assertive and have the ability to motivate
  • Be a team player and be able to work under pressure

Added advantage

  • BSc Degree /B-Tech Chemistry or Polymer
  • Ability to communicate fluently in German (verbally and written)
  • Experience in automotive process material application
