ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a QAVM Quality Engineer to ensure process compliance, IBN coding accuracy, and continuous quality improvements through audits, corrective actions, and route cause investigations. The role supports compliant product release, improved first time quality, and reduced warranty risk. This position is based in the Quality Division (Kariega)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, define and conduct spot process audits to identify non-conformities and improvement opportunities.
- Analyse root causes of process and facility deviations and ensure the implementation of corrective measures.
- Represent the department during internal process audits, VDA, TUV and TQS audits.
- Support process owners and management in containing severe non-conformities in line with VW Group guidelines.
- Escalate major non-conformities to Production and Quality Assurance Management to ensure timely containment.
- Review and verify the effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Investigate recurring and top faults identified through audits, checkpoints and field feedback to improve first-time quality.
- Provide feedback to relevant areas on detected problems to create awareness and support problem resolution.
- Ensure production follows approved working procedures, including Man Assignment Charts, SOS, SAB, PDM sheets and control plans.
- Verify IBN coding compliance at electronic coding areas in line with IPPP principles.
- Plan and conduct random hardware and software audits according to the agreed schedule.
- Plan and implement quarterly mischief tests to verify hardware and software release levels at CP8.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
- National Diploma in an Engineering field.
- A qualification in Mechatronics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering would be advantageous.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of approximately 5 years’ relevant automotive manufacturing experience.
- Understanding of vehicle build and release processes.
- Knowledge of vehicle components, systems and control units.
- Working knowledge of VW Group regulations and guidelines.
- Working knowledge of applicable VDA 6.3 / TQS standards.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, fixtures and tools.
Technical & Behavioral Competencies:
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking and deductive reasoning skills.
- Ability to apply problem-solving techniques.
- Good business communication and report writing skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to plan and coordinate activities.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation.
- Good listening, persuasion and influencing skills.
- Ability to motivate others and act assertively when required.
- Good computer skills, including MS Office, SharePoint and VW Group systems.
- Ability to set quality acceptance standards.
- Advanced presentation skills, both live and virtual.
- Conflict management skills.
