ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a dynamic professional to lead the advancement of production activities across Africa by conducting comprehensive project feasibility studies and driving the planning and implementation of production facilities. The role involves acting as project manager for new business and strategic development initiatives, while leading diverse, inter-divisional teams across multiple brands and cultures. You will play a key role in shaping and coordinating VWGA’s African footprint, engaging with key internal and external stakeholders to assess factors influencing mid- to long-term business needs. This positon is based in the Administration Department (Kariega)

 

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES

Project Management Office:

  • Conduct feasibility studies and lead the implementation of local production initiatives across Africa
  • Lead and coordinate diverse, cross-functional teams across brands and cultures
  • Track, monitor, and report on project milestones in line with Board of Management requirements
  • Proactively identify risks, resolve issues, and drive team performance to meet targets
  • Represent VWGA internally and externally and negotiate with governmental authorities and production partners

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Engage with Group, Regional, Local and external stakeholders to formulate, implement and monitor the Corporate regional strategy.

Special Projects:

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities to support sustainable growth in African markets
  • Evaluate and implement new projects, with a focus on local production initiatives
  • Coordinate internal resources to ensure efficient planning, execution, and delivery of projects
  • Act as an internal consultant by advising management, engaging stakeholders, and assessing factors impacting mid- to long-term business needs

 

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A relevant Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in one of the fields of Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in project management or strategy environment
  • Negotiating and decision-making experience at a senior level
  • Financial analysis capability
  • Automotive experience (Added Advantage)

Technical & Behavioral Competencies:

  • Strong strategic project management capability, with the ability to plan, execute, and deliver across complex business segments
  • Effective decision-making with a focus on achieving KPIs and driving project success
  • Proven leadership skills, able to communicate, motivate, and manage teams across all levels and high-pressure environments
  • Ability to monitor progress, anticipate risks, resolve issues, and escalate to senior governance structures
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and representation across cultures and at executive/government level
