ABOUT THE ROLE

Volkswagen Group Africa is seeking a Project Buyer – New Projects Controlling to support new vehicle projects through effective planning, coordination, control and tracking. The role ensures that all parts and services are sourced at optimal cost, quality, delivery and sustainability, in line with VW Group purchasing policies and legal requirements. This position is based in the Purchasing Projects & Central Functions Departement - Procurement (Kariega)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Represent Purchasing in Fachgruppen and cross-functional project teams.
  • Track and manage critical and non-critical parts against project milestones.
  • Maintain Purchasing systems (e.g. TEVON, PROMON, AVON).
  • Raise and manage Problem Sheets, AEKO’s and Programme Points.
  • Coordinate Commitment Meetings and track agreed part timings.
  • Compile and present project status and launch reports.
  • Escalate risks impacting build milestones.
  • Interface with Suppliers, Engineering, Logistics, Production and Quality

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in Purchasing, Logistics, Project Management, Mechanical Engineering, Commerce or Business Management.

 

 Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ Purchasing experience in the automotive industry.

 

Technical & Behavioral Competencies:

  • Business management & Project management skills
  • Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to interpret technical data
  • Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures and legal requirements
  • Ability to analyses facts/situations and make decisions
  • Stakeholder and conflict management
  • High computer literacy (MS Office)
  • Have sound understanding of VWSA Systems i.e. PROMON, KVS, TEVON, AVON, BEON
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • German language proficiency (advantageous)
