PDC Manager

Brief Role Description

 

This position is located in Pleasant Prairie, WI, with a Role Classification of Fully On-Site.

Role Summary

  • Lead the entire warehouse team by coaching, guiding, and developing skills in line with corporate objectives. 
  • Responsible for all aspects and functions within the PDC, for communicating with dealership personnel and for achieving the PDC Annual Business Plan, financial and budget targets
  • Initiate operational improvements, benchmarks studies and conduct research to identify current and future methods to improve efficiencies or cost reductions while meeting or exceeding Customer expectations. Acts as a liaison with all necessary areas of VWoA, third-party Vendors, and VWAG on related plans and activities.
  • Serve as a local Change Agent responsible for the successful implementation of all Parts strategies at the local level by continually reinforcing the Parts strategy change management business case and philosophy, and act as a local communication link with all employees.

Role Responsibilites

Operational – 30%

Convert overall objectives into objectives for team member’s area of responsibility.

Monitor compliance to applicable regulatory and environmental issues.

Maintain and improve warehouse operations to maximize the utilization of space and productivity.

Monitor the inbound, storage, outbound and distribution processes for parts and accessories for the PDC

Monitor the process of all aspects of dealer support for all parts technical, availability and application assistance concerns

Oversee the parts inventory and cycle count process

Work with leadership team to reduce warehouse refusals, decrease inventory adjustment and improve inventory location accuracy

Discuss warehouse operations and planning concerns with leadership team. Communicate with dealer contacts, address PDC concerns and take appropriate action as required. 

Develop and monitor functional performance measurement criteria for operational area of responsibility.

Coordinate organizational learnings into standard policies to maximize the benefit of integrated Parts distribution solutions.

Serve as first point-of-conflict resolution on process questions.

Understand product life cycle and underlying business planning requirements.

Establish and maintain excellent dealer relationships

Control a comprehensive expense budget to ensure proper utilization of funds for required expenditures

Ensure the development and adherence of policies, procedures, and processes for controlling the parts inventory. 

Organize and conduct local Parts Council meetings and participate in the National Parts Council Meetings

 

Leadership – 50%

Models desired behaviors: encourages two way communications, skilled in issue resolution, champion of employee engagement and safety initiatives.

Monitor the observance of guidelines, procedures, and employee training such as work procedures, occupational safety regulations, certifications, and management directives.

Provide mentoring, coaching, direction, process changes, continuous improvement, and performance feedback to Supply Chain Management team members.  Develop performance objectives for team members as required.

Partner with other PDC leadership and Human Resources to create a positive work environment where employees are empowered, engaged, and committed to continuous improvement.

Educate and train new and existing team members.

Act as an example for others by modeling effective cross communication, positive sponsorship, championing education initiatives, and issue resolution.  

Coach Operations Manager and Warehouse Supervisors in reviewing and monitoring employee performance including Performance Management Plans (PMP) and corrective action.

 

Strategy – 20% of time

Develop the PDC business plan incorporating the parts operations sales objectives.  Define priorities and monitor performance towards them.

Develop and recommend operational plans, processes and methods for physical warehouse operations, including layouts, initiate implementation of approved plans in conformance with federal, state and local standards, and health and safety regulations.

Serve as the liaison with the Change Management Specialist or Business Support Manager (corporate function) to share best practices in communicating with team members.

Initiate continuous improvement activities working with teams to identify process improvement ideas.

Work with the Inventory Manager to develop and implement Lean Warehousing processes to improve team members’ productivity and accuracy.

Qualification requirements

 

Required Education:

Bachelor’s Degree (Materials, Operations Management, Business, or Engineering)

Master’s Degree (Materials, Operations, Management, Business, or Engineering

  • ISO, QS or VDA Quality Systems
  • Working knowledge of ET-2000 or related SAP system
