ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a skilled and self‑motivated Maintenance Technician (Tucker) to join the Production Body Shop team. The role is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted production through advanced fault‑finding, repair, optimisation, and preventative maintenance of Body Shop equipment, with a strong focus on Tucker equipment. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and retaining critical technical expertise within the department. This position is base in Body Shop - Production (Kariega)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Advanced fault‑finding, repair, and optimisation of Tucker, welding, robotic, sealer, laser, bolting, and pneumatics equipment.
- Analyse and resolve PLC, robot, Interbus, and Profinet communication faults.
- Conduct root cause analysis on breakdowns and implement preventative actions.
- Optimize spot‑weld, clinching, laser welding, and roller hemming parameters.
- Document breakdowns, TPM, PM schedules, and maintenance activities.
- Support production to achieve volume, quality, and OPR targets.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
- National N Diploma / National Diploma / BTech / BEng / BSc in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering
- VASS training (compulsory)
- Siemens PLC and Robot training (advantageous)
- Willingness to successfully complete required assessments
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in vehicle manufacturing maintenance and/or an industrial technical environment
- Tucker equipment experience within the last 7 years (advantageous)
- Willingness to work shifts, overtime, weekends, shutdowns, public holidays, and standby
- Willingness to specialise in Tucker equipment and train Anlagens when required
- Good attendance record
Technical & Behavioral Competencies:
- Advanced ability to operate, maintain, repair, and optimise robotic systems
- Strong knowledge of Siemens PLCs, robotics, automation, and networking systems
- Ability to diagnose, fault‑find, and optimise Body Shop joining technologies
- Ability to interpret electrical and pneumatic drawings (E‑Plan)
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure with high attention to detail
- Effective communication across all organisational levels
Language
- German language proficiency (advantageous)
