Applications are invited from suitably qualified & experienced candiates to fill the Maintenance Technician in the Final Assembly - Production (Kariega)
Brief Role Description
To track history and provide information on maintenance key performance indicators (KPIs). Design and implement robust maintenance predictive and preventative measures and activities to reduce and eliminate risk of equipment downtime. To assist maintenance personnel with breakdowns to ensure minimal downtime. As a technical expert for plant and equipment the incumbent will take control of analysis on all plant stoppages and breakdowns in order to provide statistical summaries on all breakdown information.
Possible Tasks within this Role
- Modification and analysis of any deviation of machine performance from manufacturer’s specs.
- Responsible for identifying and sourcing critical spares for equipment in work area.
- Maintaining, faultfinding and repair equipment in line with health & safety protocols & standards.
- Analyse breakdowns and implement preventative measures to eliminate reoccurrences.
- Conduct routine and non-routine maintenance tasks.
- Support all maintenance personnel during faultfinding processes in order to improve plant availability and ensure high levels of plant readiness at all times.
- Ensure that backups of all Critical Operating Files, e.g. PLC programs, Robots, AC/DC Drives are maintained.
Qualification requirements
Diploma/Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering or NN Diploma plus Millwright Trade
Experience needed
3 - 5 Years’ experience in an Automotive Manufacturing plant within a maintenance environment
Essentials
- Working knowledge of TPM (Total Preventative Maintenance), Preventative and Predictive Maintenance Programs as OEE Improvement initiatives
- Proven experience supporting an assembly line in a high-volume production environment
- Possesses skills on AC and DC control speed drives, preferably SEW and Siemens.
- Strong programming experience, preferably Siemens Simatic S7/ TIA Portal prerequisite
- Be able to install and change IP addresses, modify & analyse any deviation of machine performance Knowledge of Siemens Serv1 and 2
- Knowledge of Profibus, Interbus and Profine Profisafe, S7 distributed safety.
- Robotic Knowledge: FANUC, KUKA KRC 2 & 4, Universal Robots
- Robotic Sealer Application Programming, robot mastering etc.
- Mechanical Skill: Pumps, Conveyors systems, Lifts
- Be prepared to work shift, weekends, additional and emergency hours.
- Ability to communicate effectively at various levels, both verbal and written
- Strong problem-solving skills
