Applications are invited from suitably qualified & experienced to fill the Fitter position in the QA Metrology Department - Quality Assurance (Kariega)
Brief Role Description
The purpose of this position is to ensure general maintenance of precision equipment, measuring fixture construction, set up and measurement of Body Shop components and also to interact and communicate with Production and Production leadership to ensure measurement schedule is achived.
Possible Tasks within this Role
- Work with State-of-the-art Measurement equipment.
- Support in Body Shop component measurement according to schedule.
- Ensure dimensional credibility of measurement reports.
- Provide first line of defense for dimensional concerns to Internal customers.
- Ensure all equipment is in a state of absolute precision.
- Maintenance of measuring facilities and general equipment.
- Ensure compliance to Environmental Control (Temp & Humidity) standards.
- Ensure measurement volume according to VW Standards are achieved.
- Ensure accurate and timeous reporting of measurement results to VWGA.
Qualification requirements
Have a minimum of Mechanical Trade Qualification
Experience needed
- A minimum of 3 years’ exposure to Automotive manufacturing environment.
Essentials
- Basic knowledge of Precision equipment maintenance.
- Ability to dimensionally adjust and maintain precision equipment such as measuring fixtures.
- Above average computer literacy.
- Good understanding and application of MS Office software.
- Ability to handle multiple activities productively.
- Basic technical knowledge of mechanical equipment.
- Be able to work independently and under pressure.
- Team player.
- Ability to communicate effectively with Production peers and Supervision.
- Successful candidate will be required to work shifts, overtime( weekdays, weekends, public holidays at short notice) and during year-end shutdown
