Brief Role Description
This role plays a critical role in ensuring the secure and efficient operation of IT systems on the manufacturing shop floor at the Chattanooga Plant. This position is responsible for defining, documenting, and validating IT manufacturing processes, maintaining system integrity, and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards and ISO 9001 quality management system documentation.
The specialist serves as the Industrial Cyber Security Officer for Shop Floor IT and is responsible for maintaining endpoint security, patch management, antivirus updates, and domain integration. The role also includes managing Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM) for deploying and maintaining system configurations across the manufacturing environment.
This position supports core production areas, including the Body Shop, Paint Shop, Assembly Shop, and Battery Shop, ensuring that IT systems meet Volkswagen's specifications and operational requirements.
Possible Tasks within this Role
Process Management:
- Define, document, and validate IT Manufacturing processes.
Task and Project Management:
- Prioritize and follow up on tasks, project milestones, and problem management items.
Compliance and Cyber Security Management:
- Ensure adherence to technical, process, and ISO 9001 documentation. Represent Shop Floor IT as the Industrial Cyber Security Officer, Maintain endpoint security, antivirus definitions, patching, and domain integration
System Maintenance:
- Maintain IT Manufacturing systems to meet VW specifications.
- Manage system configurations using Microsoft Configuration Manager
Operational Availability:
- Ensure uptime and integrity of IT Manufacturing-supported equipment and applications.
Monitoring:
- Monitor IT Manufacturing clients and other infrastructure.
Monitor VW IT Manufacturing ticket queues, work tickets to resolution, document all activities, and update the knowledge database as appropriate
Issue Escalation:
- Escalate issues to appropriate internal/external support groups when necessary.
Business Process Improvement:
- Identify solutions that support business process maturity or improvement.
Project Work:
- Work on assigned projects and meet delivery milestones and deadlines.
Asset Management:
- Manage IT Manufacturing hardware and related parts, including documenting incoming/outgoing items, proper storage, staging, testing, configuration, and handover repairs to 3rd parties.
Technical Documentation:
- Create and maintain technical documentation.
Troubleshooting:
- Repair and resolve issues with IT Manufacturing hardware and software.
Specialization:
- Document and understand technology solutions for specific production areas (e.g., Body shop, Paint shop, Assembly shop, Battery).
Qualification requirements
Required:
- 3-5 years of professional work experience in an IT-related field.
- Associate degree in MIS, Computer Science, or related.
- Knowledge of manufacturing production, logistics, and production quality processes
- Proven experience in a leadership role overseeing IT operations within manufacturing.
- Project management abilities.
- Must be willing to work on Quarterly Rotational Shifts
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Additional certifications such as CompTIA Security+
- Knowledge of automation equipment and technology from Intec, Fanuc, Zeiss, Siemens, F.EE, MMS, VW FIS
- Microsoft Configuration Manager Knowledge
- CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications are desired
