Brief Role Description

Career Level 18P, located in Chattanooga TN, with a role classification of Fully On-site

The Facilities Specialist will be responsible for assessing the facility's resource requirements, optimizing the facility's critical operational systems, and overseeing the maintenance of infrastructure and equipment.

Possible Tasks within this Role

Facilities Operations – 60%

  • Planning and coordination of maintenance strategies for facility systems to ensure high operational availability.
  • Facilities systems include HVAC, compressors, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, piping networks, general infrastructure, etc.
  • Evaluating operational systems and facility infrastructure to ascertain and improve operational efficiencies.
  • Coordinating and audit of contractors performing facilities maintenance activities.
  • Ensure facilities cleaning and groundskeeping are performed according to requirements.
  • Planning and scheduling of facilities contractor staffing to ensure site needs are covered.
  • Facilities management of satellite VW owned properties, such as Supplier Park and MDO operations.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance (maintenance and testing) of relevant facilities assets.

 

Facilities Controls – 30%

  • Maintenance and upkeep of Siemens BMS System
  • Support facilities maintenance contractor with troubleshooting activities
  • Controls programming updates and backup management

Facilities Projects – 10%

  • Determine facility and equipment specifications.
  • Analyzing project costs and preparing budgets.

Qualification requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering, or related field.

General Skills required:

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • MS Office Applications.

Specialized skills Required:

  • Project management
  • Facilities start-up and controls systems debug
  • Setup/operation of building automation systems
  • Industrial equipment operation and maintenance (Compressor, Chiller, Boiler, HVAC)

Desired:

  • CAD software experience (MicroStation, AutoCAD)
  • Siemens Industrial PLC Experience
  • Siemens BMS (Apogee/Desigo)

Work Flexibility:

  • Some travel may be required, but typically <10%
  • Standard M-F work schedule but may require weekends & holidays to support projects
