Volkswagen Group of America’s 6-Month Co-op Program offers undergraduate students the opportunity to gain immersive, hands-on experience in the automotive industry over an extended period. Designed for driven, curious, and highly motivated students, the program provides meaningful exposure to real projects that contribute directly to Volkswagen’s success.

Throughout the co-op term, participants develop both professional and technical skills through on-the-job training, mentorship, and collaboration with industry experts. This experience allows students to deepen their understanding of their field, strengthen their career readiness, and make a tangible impact within one of the world’s most innovative automotive companies.

Program Information:

  • 6-month Co-op Program Start Date (non-negotiable): June 1, 2026
  • Program Duration: June 1, 2026 – December 18, 2026

Role Summary

The Assembly Maintenance Co-op will support the Production Maintenance team within the Assembly Shop at Volkswagen Chattanooga. This role focuses on assisting with maintenance projects and contributing to the launch of new software designed to guide and optimize preventative maintenance activities. The Co-op will gain hands-on experience in a production environment, working closely with maintenance technologies such as drives, conveyors, tooling, and PLCs.

Possible Tasks within this Role

  • Support maintenance projects and preventative maintenance initiatives across the Assembly Shop.
  • Assist with the implementation and testing of new maintenance software tools.
  • Analyze production and maintenance data to identify trends, issues, and optimization opportunities.
  • Contribute to problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts within the maintenance environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance maintenance processes and equipment reliability.

Qualification requirements

  • A rising college Junior, Senior or recent graduate
  • Strong GPA
  • Strong preference for Engineering or related degrees.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of CAD, CATIA, or other 3D modeling tools preferred.
