ABOUT THE ROLE

 

We are seeking a self-motivated and driven Buyer who will source and develop local and imported metallic parts, ensuring cost, quality, and project targets are met. The role involves driving competitive pricing through analysis and negotiations, managing suppliers and contracts, and taking ownership of supplier approvals and successfully introducing components into production and export programs. This position is based in the Metallic Department - Procurement (Kariega)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify and develop local and imported parts and tooling to meet project requirements
  • Establish benchmark pricing and conduct value analysis to ensure cost competitiveness
  • Manage quotation and sourcing activities and present recommendations to management
  • Develop and maintain national and international supplier sources
  • Negotiate supplier price adjustments and manage commercial contracts
  • Perform supplier capacity planning and support engineering or quality improvements
  • Ensure project accountability for component approval, production introduction, and export readiness

 

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree/Diploma in the following disciplines – Purchasing, Logistics, Commerce, Finance, Business Management

 

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years Purchasing experience in the automotive industry or related supplier base.

 

Technical & Behavioral Competencies:

  • A good understanding of APDP and NIPP principles
  • Negotiation & problem-solving skills
  • Oral, written communication and presentation skills
  • Computer literacy, especially MS Office package
  • Financial analysis & costing ability
  • Business management & project management skills
  • Customer interface and conflict management skills

 

Added Advantage:

  • Experience in tool manufacture/design or press parts
  • German language proficiency
