ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a self-motivated and driven Buyer to join our Procurement team. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing and managing components, driving localisation, cost competitiveness, and production continuity. This position is based in the Procurement Division (Kariega)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Source components and manage RFQs, quotations, and negotiations
- Drive cost reduction and benchmark pricing.
- Present sourcing decisions to committees.
- Manage supplier readiness, capacity, and tooling.
- Implement engineering changes on time.
- Support production, quality, and logistics issues.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree/Diploma in Purchasing, Logistics, Commerce, Finance, Business Management or a technical qualification (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Quality, Operations or Production Management).
Experience:
- Have a minimum of 3 years purchasing experience in the automotive or supplier industry.
Technical & Behavioral Competencies:
- Strong experience in Production Components, Electrical harness experience and technical data knowledge would be added advantage
- Solid negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict management skills
- Effective communication and presentation abilities across all levels
- Advanced computer literacy, especially MS Excel
- Good understanding of financial analysis, costing, and business/project management
- Strong customer interaction skills
- German language proficiency is an added advantage
