Project Engineer

Role Summary

The Project Engineer supports the Program Manager and Project Leads in program planning, reporting, KPI tracking and project documentation. In addition, the person needs to be also able to take over specific tasks within the project team to create technical information, evaluate them and bring it to a decision. This role drives forward the product development process by being responsible for the success of our advanced technology projects.

This open position is part of a team that focuses on the development of novel Li-Ion battery systems to gain competitiveness in the global market. People most suited for this position are able to derive technical systems from market-driven ideas, assertively work with suppliers building trust and finding common ground solutions, and work well in a multi-disciplined environment.

Role Responsibilities

Leads Program Management Office topics for Advanced Technology projects (100%)

  • Project management office responsibility
  • Planning of project documentation, creation and follow-up of documentation plan
  • Project status documentation and open point list responsible
  • Project budget planning, maintenance and reforecasting
  • Defect and ticket management / issue lifecycle management
  • Responsible for the project’s variant, quality and change management
  • Follows-up on meeting decisions and drives topics within the organization
  • Synchronization of US Development activities with internal and external stakeholders inc. NAR and German affiliates
  • Reporting of status and progress to project team and project leader
  • Prepares Leadership for participation in all internal boards and committees
  • Prepares reporting of operational business performance for executive management presentation and review
  • Administers development budget planning tool
  • Monitors and reports key performance indicators for technology functions 
  • Establishes a system to monitor key performance indicators and progress
  • Develops and tracks deliverables of projects, providing progress reports, targets and milestones to allow proactive management responses
  • Prepares reporting of operational business performance for executive management presentation and review
  • Facilitates product development reviews and meetings as required

Qualifications & Requirements

Years of Experience: 5-7 years

Education Required: Diploma or Bachelor degree

Education Desired: Diploma or Bachelor degree in Engineering (Electrical, Natrual sciences, Information Technologies, Systems Engineering)

Ability to work flexible schedule.  Domestic (U.S.) and International (Canada & Europe/Germany) travel is required (up to 20%)

General Skills:

  • Knowledge about Li-Ion cell design parameters and tolerance chains
  • Very good understanding in production processes, especially for Li-Ion cells, but not limited to
  • Able to evaluate new production processes and understand timelines from machine suppliers
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking – using logic and reason.
  • Proven problem-solving skills knowledge and experience on the job
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills – English language proficient
  • Able to work in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary, time-line and target oriented work environment
  • Excellent communication skills – presentation, written and interpersonal
  • Able to continuously question and challenge the status-quo, always documenting and applying the lessons learned

Compensation Data

Salary range is dependent on factors such as geographical differentials, credentials or certifications, industry-based experience, qualifications, and training.
