As a PhD candidate (f/m/d) in the field of AI-assisted electric machine development, you will be part of an exciting and challenging research environment. Possible tasks within this role

  • Develop AI-based methods for the design of electric machines
  • Investigate loss mechanisms under variable modulation and switching frequencies
  • Consider the influence of pulse-width modulation inverters on electric machine losses as a key design factor
  • Simulate and evaluate machine concepts using modern tools (e.g., FEM, MATLAB/Simulink)
  • Build and measure prototypes to validate developed concepts

 

The final dissertation topic will be defined in collaboration with the supervising professor. A prerequisite for the collaboration is a confirmed supervision agreement and a clearly defined research topic from a professor at a university or research institution with the right to confer doctoral degrees.

Qualification requirements

  • A good to excellent university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in electrical engineering or a related field, qualifying for PhD studies
  • Knowledge in electric machine design and/or machine learning
  • Experience with simulation software (e.g., MATLAB, ANSYS, JMAG)
  • A responsible and structured working style, along with above-average commitment
  • Language proficiency in German and English at minimum level B2 (CEFR)
