Brief Role Description

 

This position is Career Level 18S, located in Auburn Hills, MI, with a Role Classification of Fully Onsite.

Role Summary

 

The Technical Service Center evaluates, repairs, and maintains Volkswagen Group of America brand vehicles, customer vehicles, and company buy-back vehicles as required. Additionally, it develops and documents repair procedures, validates diagnostics, repair information, and services pre-production vehicles, often with limited information. This position also works closely with Product Support and Regulatory teams to evaluate and/or develop field-ready service processes.

Role Responsibilities

 

  • Repair, test, maintain, and update VW /Audi vehicles to the latest technical level  
  • Repair vehicles when Dealer personnel, internal organizations, field technical support and other corporate locations are not able to execute repairs.
  • Communicate problems and solutions to VWGoA/VW-AG Quality departments utilizing department specific documentation  
  • Test vehicles under varying conditions to determine and document cause of condition
  • Evaluate and repair company buy-back vehicles 
  • Verify customer complaints in the actual field environment
  • Provide cross functional assistance to other groups within AoA, VWoA, Audi/VW AG, vendors and associations
  • Evaluate new diagnostic systems and procedures; verify GFF and service publications 
  • Perform, evaluate and develop repairs according to newly developed repair information 
  • Provide recommendations to internal departments for modifications to repair procedures (product support, quality teams)
  • Support QTM’s and TFM’s as needed via phone or remotely 
  • Evaluate buy-back vehicles for emissions, drivability, and ineffective repair procedures 
  • Accurate and timely analysis of failure mode in coordination with Product Support or applicable vehicle factory liaisons
  • Support dealer repairs/technical product investigations onsite at dealerships 
  • Test, validate and document field fixes (Bespoke repairs)  
  • Attend and support dealership and corporate focus groups 
  • Provide onsite vehicle launch support 
  • Manage all service parts and labor data with in DMS system
  • Prioritize and plan testing procedure sequence
  • Provide technical input to Product Planning, Technical Training, Product Support, and Academy
  • Support APRO, IAV, OBD, and other test teams as required
  • Build and/or support concept vehicles (Accessories, Product Planning, etc.)
  • Develop and manufacture test fixtures and diagnostic techniques
  • Work with warranty activities to evaluate returned parts and processes

Qualifications

 

Years of Experience:

  • 7+ years’ automotive diagnostic & repair experience including high voltage vehicle repair

 

Education Required:

  • Degree or certificate in Automotive Technology
  • Hi-level Volkswagen Audi Technical Training
  • ASE Master Certification

 

Education Desired:

  • German and/or Spanish language skills
  • Master Technician Certification or equivalent experience

 

Skills:

  • Excellent analytical and conceptual thinking – using logic and reason, creative and strategic
  • Communication skills – interpersonal, presentation and written
  • Detail Orientation – demonstrated record of precision and integrity
  • Integration – joining people, processes or systems
  • High level problem solving & decision-making skills
  • Resource management
  • Computer savvy – Skilled in using MS software (Excel & PowerPoint) and database systems
  • Experience with and/or working understanding of international cooperation and cultural differences

  • Valid Driver’s License

 

Required Skills:

  • Extensive Volkswagen and/or Audi product and technical knowledge
  • Extensive knowledge of Volkswagens and/or /Audi diagnostic processes
  • Hybrid & High-Voltage battery diagnostic and repair experience
  • Advanced level of ODIS diagnostic experience
  • ASE technical certifications
  • Degree or certificate in Automotive Technology

 

Desired Skills:

  • Master Audi and or Volkswagen training certification
  • German language skills

 

Work Flexibility:

  • Position requires to be onsite full time during core business hours (7 AM – 4 PM)
  • Ability to stand on your feet for long periods of time (4-7 hours)
  • Ability to manually lift up to 50-65 pounds
  • Occasion domestic travel for training and event support (<5%)
