Position Overview

Under the direction of the Manager, Group Academy, this individual contributor role is responsible for delivering high quality technical training to Volkswagen and Audi dealership service personnel, with a focus on the effective application of automotive technologies and processes. Training includes theoretical instruction as well as hands on diagnostic, maintenance, and repair procedures, delivered through a variety of blended learning formats. The position is also accountable for the day to day operations and maintenance of the Training Center, including accurate scheduling, reporting, and administration of classes within the Learning Management System (LMS). In addition, the role contributes to the review, maintenance, and development of course curriculum and training content to ensure accuracy and alignment with emerging technologies.

 

This position is based on site 3+ days per week at our Ajax Corporate Office, Monday through Friday during standard business hours. While the schedule follows a regular weekday structure, flexibility may be required to meet business needs. Due to the nature of the role and training delivery requirements, occasional additional hours or adjustments to the work schedule may be necessary to support operational demands.

 

This role operates in classroom, workshop, and office environments with hands‑on technical instruction. Bona Fide Occupational Requirements (BFORs) include the ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods; lift and handle tools, components, and training materials (up to 40 lbs per organizational standards); reach, bend, and maneuver around vehicles; maintain sustained sensory focus during diagnostics and demonstrations; and use fine motor skills for tools, diagnostic equipment, and instructional technology.The role requires managing multiple activities in a dynamic environment and responding quickly to changing workshop or learner conditions. Strict adherence to safety protocols, including EV and high‑voltage systems, is mandatory.  

Primary Responsibilities

  • Champion and represent the Volkswagen and Audi brands, ensuring all training delivery reflects the organizations’ technical excellence, safety standards, and customer experience expectations.
  • Deliver high quality technical instruction to dealership technicians and VGCA corporate employees, using the established Service Training curriculum and applying best practice adult learning methodologies.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute a continuous three month rolling Service Training schedule, including accurate class setup, roster management, and course closure within the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Collaborate on the review, enhancement, and development of training curricula, ensuring course materials, delivery methods, and assessments remain current, technically accurate, and aligned with emerging technologies.
  • Contribute to New Model Launch and New Technology initiatives, supporting content development, training readiness, and technical accuracy for both planning and execution phases.
  • Oversee day to day operations of the Learning Center, ensuring optimal functionality, safety, and security of all assets—including training vehicles, diagnostic equipment, tools, and facility resources—while maintaining compliance with all corporate and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Education

  • Post‑secondary diploma in automotive or mechanical studies, or equivalent experience, required; bachelor’s degree in automotive science or related field preferred.
  • Valid Provincial Technician’s License or Interprovincial Red Seal Certification required.
  • Certification in Adult Learning or Instructional Methodologies is an asset.

 

Experience

  • 5+ years in a technical automotive role within an OEM dealership required.
  • 3+ years of training, teaching, or instructional experience preferred.

  • Effective classroom and workshop management, including safe use of tools, vehicles, and equipment.

Curriculum Design & Delivery Quality

  • Ability to design, update, and maintain training content aligned with evolving technologies.
  • Strong written communication for course materials, assessments, and instructional resources.

Communication, Coaching & Relationship Management

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for in‑person and virtual delivery.
  • Ability to assess learner performance and provide constructive, actionable feedback.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with technicians, dealership staff, and internal/external stakeholders.
  • French and/or German language skills are an asset.

Technology, Organization & Administrative Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, LMS platforms, and curriculum development tools.
  • Ability to plan multi‑month schedules, manage logistics, and maintain accurate training records.
  • Strong attention to detail across attendance, assessments, and documentation.

Safety, Environment & Professional Conduct

  • Solid understanding of shop safety and EV/high‑voltage protocols, with the ability to model and enforce safe work practices.
  • Commitment to maintaining a respectful, inclusive, and psychologically safe learning environment.

Travel & Mobility

  • Ability to travel up to 50% for regional, national, or international training.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing and ability to operate training vehicles.
  • Valid passport for occasional international travel.
