Position Overview
The VGCA Accounting Shared Services Centre provides essential back-office accounting functions for General Ledger, Inventory, Accounts Receivable and Affiliates, Accounts Payable, and Fixed Assets for multiple VW group companies including Volkswagen, Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, factory production, and electric vehicle infrastructure.
This position is for an accountant with proven experience in financial accounting, looking to progress their career in the automotive industry. The individual must understand the importance of preparing timely, accurate and relevant financial information for diverse stakeholders and being a trusted accounting partner to controlling and other business units.
This role will also ensure the financial integrity of the Parts balance sheet, profit and loss statement and underlying general ledger accounts, utilizing best practices around account reconciliations, variance analysis and reporting to deliver accurate financial results.
Key Responsibilities
- Review parts sales, cost of sales, margins, inventory, and related general ledger accounts to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with IFRS.
- Manage all accounting functions related to the Parts accounting system and ensure accurate integration into the general ledger.
- Prepare and maintain reconciliations for all Parts-related balance sheet accounts
- Reconcile sales and cost of sales units in the general ledger; investigate and resolve discrepancies prior to month-end close.
- Perform monthly fluctuation analyses for balance sheet and income statement accounts, supporting financial review meetings and variance discussions.
- Coordinate monthly Parts accounting close activities and ensure all deliverables meet established deadlines
- Review system-generated financial reports for accuracy; perform corrections and coordinate with relevant departments to resolve accounting issues.
- Support SAP FI/CO and SAP ET2000 system testing, enhancements, and maintenance activities.
- Document, implement, and monitor new and existing accounting processes; maintain detailed desk procedures for all role-related tasks.
- Support external audit inquiries by preparing requested documentation and providing clear, complete explanations.
- Lead process walkthroughs for auditors, demonstrating internal controls and end-to-end accounting processes.
- Maintain and enhance performance metrics and KPIs to support data-driven decision-making across Parts Accounting and related functions.
- Lead and support ad-hoc projects, including preparation of financial analyses and presentations.
- Complete ad-hoc reporting requests to support business decisions, tax requirements, and other cross-functional groups.
Qualifications
Formal Education
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline
- CPA Designation or working towards completion is an asset
Experience
- 5 + years of accounting experience
Competencies
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial accounting principles.
- Excellent communication skills – Written, oral and presentation to document, articulate and convey functions and processes.
- Analytical skills – Ability to dissect complex accounting and financial processes and identify risks and process improvements.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong self-initiative to operate independently
- Works collaboratively and supports colleagues to achieve shared team objectives.
- Ability to collaborate across functions (IT, Finance, Operations)
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong problem-solving skills and motivation to improve processes
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas); strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Experience with SAP is an asset.

- Availability for occasional travel, as per business requirements
Salary range is dependent on factors such as industry-based experience, skills, training, credentials, and other qualifications. The salary range for this role is $73,000-83,000, actual pay may vary based on experience, education, and internal compensation practices.
