ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a self-motivated and driven Buyer (Interior/Exterior) to join our Procurement Interior/Exterior team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, sourcing, developing and maintaining components to ensure a commercially competitive advantage for Volkswagen Group South Africa. This position is based in the Purchasing Interior/Exterior Department - Procurement (Kariega)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sourcing local and imported production components and tooling.
- Conducting RFQs, analysing quotations and establishing benchmark pricing.
- Negotiating pricing, contracts and supplier cost adjustments.
- Developing and managing local and international suppliers.
- Managing tooling, supplier capacity and component readiness to SOP.
- Supporting engineering changes and quality improvements.
- Presenting sourcing recommendations to management committees.
- Ensuring components are approved and introduced into production or export.
- Develop and implement buyer business plan in support of commodity objectives.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
• National Diploma or Degree in Purchasing, Logistics, Commerce, Finance, Business Management, or a technical qualification (Polymer, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Quality,
Operations or Production Management).
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years purchasing experience in the automotive or supplier industry.
- Experience with production components (advantageous).
Technical & Behavioral Competencies:
- A good understanding of APDP and NIPP principles
- Strong negotiation, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Good presentation skills and MS Office proficiency.
- Financial analysis and costing ability.
- Business Management & Project management skills
- Customer interface and Conflict management skills
- Ability to interpret technical data.
- Self-motivated and driven.
- German language proficiency (advantageous).
