ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a self-motivated and driven Buyer (Commodities) to join our Procurement team. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, developing and managing components to ensure a competitive advantage, with a focus on transitioning parts from CKD to Direct. This position is based in the Procurement Division (Kariega)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Source and negotiate direct purchase components to reduce CKD costs.
- Issue RFQs and manage supplier responses within timelines.
- Ensure supplier onboarding complies with VWGA standards and ESL requirements.
- Analyze quotations, benchmark pricing, and negotiate optimal commercial terms.
- Present sourcing recommendations and manage supplier nomination processes.
- Monitor supplier capacity (INCA) and mitigate risks.
- Identify and escalate supply risks to prevent production disruptions.
- Support quality, logistics, and resolve supplier-related issues.
- Implement engineering and technical changes on time.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Diploma / Degree in Purchasing, Logistics, Commerce, Finance, Business Management, Public Management or a technical qualification (Polymer, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Quality, Operations or Production Management).
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years purchasing experience in the automotive or supplier industry.
- Experience with Production Components (advantageous).
Technical & Behavioral Competencies:
- A good understanding of APDP and NIPP principles
- Strong negotiation, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Good presentation skills and MS Office proficiency.
- Financial analysis and costing ability.
- Business Management & Project management skills
- Customer interface and Conflict management skills
- Ability to interpret technical data.
- German language proficiency (advantageous).
