ABOUT THE ROLE
Volkswagen South Africa is seeking a Temporary Project Engineer – Logistics to deliver and manage end‑to‑end logistics and material‑handling projects that support production, localization, and export requirements, ensuring efficient, safe, high‑quality, and cost‑effective material flow through coordination with internal teams and external contractors. This position is based in the Logistics Department - Production (Kariega)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement logistics requirements for new projects, production requests, upgrades, and approved improvement initiatives
- Plan and prepare production and warehouse layouts, logistics concepts, and material handling solutions
- Develop packaging specifications for local, export, and CKD parts
- Manage logistics projects, budgets, timelines, suppliers, and contract compliance
- Prepare enquiry requests, tenders, appropriations, and purchase requisitions
- Coordinate acceptance, testing, and handover of logistics equipment and facilities
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
- National Diploma or Degree in Industrial Logistics Project Management, or Operations Management
Work Experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in logistics processes within an automotive manufacturing environment
- Experience in logistics project management and contractor coordination
Technical & Behavioral Competencies:
- Strong analytical, planning, and communication skills
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD); SAP and MS Office
- Knowledge of material handling systems and packaging methods
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills
- Self-motivated, disciplined, and capable of working independently
- German language proficiency will be an advantage
