Quality Management Specialist

Brief Role Description

The Quality Management Specialist is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and continuously improving the Companies Quality Management System for Company processes and specialized processes for Level 4 autonomous driving development and operations. The role ensures that processes, products, and services consistently meet internal quality standards, regulatory expectations, and customer requirements. The Quality Management Specialist works closely with business services, compliance, engineering, safety, and operations teams to embed quality into development, deployment, and operational activities. This position plays a key role in enabling the Company to scale high-quality autonomous driving solutions.

Possible Tasks within this Role

Quality Management System (QMS) Ownership

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System across company processes, development and operations
  • Ensure alignment of QMS processes with applicable standards and organizational objectives and global company processes and policies
  • Define quality policies, procedures, and process governance structures
  • Monitor QMS effectiveness and drive continuous improvement

Process Definition & Improvement

  • Define, document, and improve development and operational processes in conjunction with global processes
  • Identify process gaps and inefficiencies and drive corrective actions
  • Promote standardized ways of working across teams

Audits, Compliance & Governance

  • Plan, conduct, and support internal and external audits and assessments
  • Track audit findings, corrective actions, and effectiveness verification
  • Support compliance with applicable quality, safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare quality-related documentation for reviews and assessments

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Support

  • Work closely with Company leadership and employees on quality topics
  • Provide guidance and coaching on quality processes, tools, and best practices
  • Support quality aspects of change management, releases, and operational readiness
  • Contribute to management reviews and quality reporting

Metrics, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Define and monitor quality KPIs and performance indicators
  • Analyze quality data and trends to identify systemic issues
  • Support data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Promote a culture of quality and accountability across the organization

Qualification requirements

Years of Relevant Experience

  • 3-5+ years’ experience designing, implementing, or operating Quality Management Systems (QMS) in regulated or safety-critical environments. Experience supporting audits, assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • Formal training or certification in quality management systems or auditing is a plus

  • Understanding of quality processes for software-intensive and system-of-systems products
  • Familiarity with requirements management, traceability, and configuration management
  • Experience with audits, gap analyses, and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) management
  • Awareness of interactions between quality, functional safety, SOTIF, and system safety
  • Experience with quality metrics, KPIs, and performance monitoring
  • Experience with Volkswagen QM-System and Policy framework.
  • Experience with autonomous driving or ADAS product lifecycles
  • Understanding of Level 4 deployment models (robotaxi, trucking, delivery)
  • Understanding of safety cases, VSSA, and how quality processes support safety evidence
  • Experience aligning QMS processes with Safety Management Systems (SMS)
  • Hands-on experience with requirements and quality tools (e.g., Signavio, DOORS, Polarion, Jama, Jira)
  • Experience automating quality metrics, dashboards, or audit tracking

 

Work Flexibility: Physical requirements, travel requirements, work schedule, etc.

  • Travel is estimated to be 5-10%, as needed within U.S. and overseas, mainly Germany
