Software Engineer (f/m/d)

Annual gross salary range: 23,000€

(Our salary bands include a team performance semestral bonus)

 

Volkswagen Digital Hub is looking for motivated Junior Software Engineers to join our Volkswagen Digital in Spain. As part of our engineering teams, you will collaborate with experienced software engineers to build and maintain scalable digital products while growing your technical skills in a supportive, agile environment.

This role is designed for engineers at the beginning of their professional career who have a solid technical foundation, curiosity, and a passion for software development.

## Responsibilities

- Collaborate with experienced software engineers to design, develop and maintain high-quality software solutions.
- Contribute to the development of frontend and/or backend components depending on the team's needs.
- Develop and/or consume RESTful APIs
- Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code following engineering best practices.
- Participate in code reviews and continuously improve code quality.
- Write automated tests (unit and integration).
- Work using Agile methodologies and modern software engineering practices (Clean Code, testing, CI/CD and continuous improvement).
- Collaborate with Product, QA, UX and DevOps teams to deliver valuable software.
- Learn new technologies, tools and engineering practices while receiving mentorship from senior team members.
- Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve productivity while maintaining code quality.

## Requirements

- Knowledge of software development using at least one modern programming language (TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, Java or similar).
- Understanding of software engineering principles, data structures and object-oriented programming.
- Familiarity with TypeScript and modern web development concepts.
- Basic knowledge of React or another modern frontend framework.
- Understanding of REST APIs and client-server communication.
- Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows.
- Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
- Understanding of testing concepts (Unit and Integration testing).
- Understanding of Agile methodologies and collaborative software development.
- Curiosity, eagerness to learn and willingness to continuously improve.
- Good communication skills in English.

 

## Nice to Have

- Personal, academic or internship experience building web applications.
- Familiarity with Node.js or Python.
- Basic knowledge of Docker and containerized applications.
- Exposure to CI/CD concepts and cloud environments.
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases.
- Experience with testing frameworks (Jest, Vitest, Playwright, Cypress or PyTest).
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT or similar.
- Contributions to personal or open-source projects.
