What we do in our team?

Autonomous vehicles and their surrounding ecosystem are important areas in the strategy of MAN and our partners. Together with digitalization and electrification, they form the building blocks of the future product lineup.

To control, monitor and assist the self-driving vehicles on the road, a cloud system is needed which connects and collects many different data sources. To operate fleets of autonomous commercial vehicles from a central place, the right data needs to be process and available at the right time at the right place. This helps in establishing the use case for our customers to easily and economically use autonomous vehicles (AV's). We are searching people to participate in the creation of these key components to help build the autonomous future.

What will your responsibilities be?

• Build, test, deploy, and run backend solutions using cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices. Build products that directly interact with our autonomous vehicles and customer systems.
• Develop and maintain products and services with a strong focus on RESTful and GRPC APIs, using containers, serverless functions, and SQS and Kafka streaming.
• Write high-quality, maintainable, and scalable code using Kotlin and TypeScript. Follow Clean Code and Clean Architecture principles and apply common design patterns.
• Take ownership of your products, deeply collaborating with your design, architecture, and data engineering colleagues.
• Take end-to-end responsibility for your software and test it as part of the complete system.
• Mentor and advise your team on all questions around backend and tool development. Proactively collaborate to improve services, tooling, and processes.

What requirements are we looking for?

Minimum:

• Bachelor‘s degree or equivalent job experience.
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Strong experience with backend development in object-oriented programming languages, preferably Kotlin.
• Proven experience in designing APIs for backwards and forwards compatibility.
• Proven experience with Clean Code and Clean Architecture principles.
• Knowledge of database management systems like Postgres or DynamoDB.
• Fluent English skills.

Preferred:·

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• Proven experience with event-driven architectures, preferably SQS/SNS, Kafka.
• Proven experience with microservices or serverless architectures.
• Proven experience in designing, building, and implementing complex software solutions.
• Proven experience integrating cloud services (preferably AWS) and implementing Infrastructure-as-code, monitoring, and alerting solutions.
• Knowledge of frameworks, e.g. Spring Boot.
• Experience in designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of TypeScript for serverless functions, rapid prototyping, and tooling.
