We are currently hiring a Engineering Manager to join our I&E HUB in Lisbon.

What will your responsibilities be?

Creating a team

• Discussing & analysing the current status of the products, its roadmap and reflecting the organizational requirements from a Digital Hub perspective (Team size, Language, long-term strategy, Part of the Future Lion Strategy…)

• Understanding the viability of technical scope being brought, highlighting risks and dependencies before the team is ramped up.

• Create and own the strategy for new teams, working closely with product management, business developer, existing engineers and other stakeholders.  

• Actively participate on & drive the ramp-up phase of teams: hiring interviews, finances, contact with Munich, onboarding, logistics, conferences, meetups.

 

Growing a team  

• Constantly mentor and grow top notch teams which are capable of solving challenging projects.  

• Foster autonomy, self-responsibility and proactivity in individuals and teams.

• Continuously coordinate with the teams in order to guarantee they have all the conditions needed to do amazing work and deliver value to our customers.  

• Help the teams identify and solve dependencies and blockers, addressing the ones which are on the organizational side (outside of the team’s boundaries/area of control).  

• Using frequent and regular feedback and ideas from each engineer and each team, better understand the landscape in order to help affect change in the way the Traton Digital Hub and the Traton Departments work and deal with the challenges that arise.  

• Focus on continuous process improvement and help implement any changes as they see it’s necessary.  

• Be an ambassador when it comes to contributing to a fulfilling and engaging work experience through regular career growth and development conversations.  

• When the team cannot solve something by themselves, be a bridge, a facilitator and a protector of the team’s work when it comes to dealing with stakeholders (I.e. in Munich and Lisbon).  

• Be a neutral facilitator for any type of conflicts between teams or team members.

• First contact for the team members regarding all administrative questions like holidays, absenteeism, individual requirements, etc.

 

Management team

• Supporting other Engineering Managers.

• Build up common processes based on experiments/MVPs that they do with different teams.

• Brainstorm what steps need to be taken to achieve goals that benefit the long-term vision of the hub and its teams.

• Actively contribute to the execution of these steps.

• Take over responsibility for further Overhead Topics like: Business Development; Finance/Controlling; Marketing related Topics; HR related topics; Office Development & Operations.

What requirements are we looking for?

• IT Background  (Education and Professional Experience).

• Leadership role Experience (+3 years).

• Works in IT (Product / Service Teams).

• Experience in managing Client / Partner relationships and ensuring alignment in stakeholders expectations. 

• Experience in Agile  (Safe would be a nice to have).

• International teams context.

• Very good English skills, both written and spoken.

• Good Analytical Capabilities and a strong sense of accountability and ownership.

• Strong people skills and team-oriented mindset (Interpersonal communication, emotional intelligence, empathy, conflict management).
