We are currently hiring a Engineering Manager to join our I&E HUB in Lisbon.

What will your responsibilities be?
Team Creation & Ramp‑up
Assess product scope, status, roadmap, and business needs to define the team setup and required competencies.
- Validate technical feasibility, identify risks, and anticipate dependencies.
- Build and scale new teams in collaboration with Product Management, Business Development, Engineering, and other stakeholders.
- Lead the initiation phase: recruitment, onboarding, customer alignment, resource planning, and operational readiness.
Team Leadership & Development
- Mentor and grow high‑performing engineering teams capable of solving complex technical challenges.
- Foster a culture of autonomy, accountability, and proactive problem solving.
- Support career development through goal setting, structured feedback, and coaching.
- Remove blockers, address organizational dependencies, and ensure teams have optimal conditions to deliver value.
- Promote cross‑functional collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement practices.
- Conduct performance evaluations and guide individuals through constructive, actionable feedback.
Delivery & Stakeholder Management
- Ensure seamless collaboration between engineering teams and internal/external stakeholders.
- Act as a facilitator and trusted partner, representing the team and safeguarding delivery commitments.
- Maintain transparent communication regarding decisions, priorities, and delivery progress.
- Manage expectations, escalate risks when needed, manage scalations and promote an outcome‑oriented mindset.
Organizational Impact
- Collaborate with fellow Engineering Managers and VWGS Departments to evolve organizational processes, frameworks, and best practices.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives, innovation efforts, and long‑term capability building across the engineering hub.
- Support cross‑department topics such as business development, budgeting, operational improvements, talent initiatives, or organizational development.
What requirements are we looking for?
- Solid IT background, supported by relevant academic qualifications and hands‑on professional experience in technology-driven environments.
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing engineering teams in product or service delivery contexts.
- Proven experience working in IT product and/or service teams, with strong understanding of modern software development practices.
- Demonstrated ability to manage client and partner relationships, ensuring alignment on expectations, priorities, and delivery outcomes.
- Strong experience working with Agile methodologies; familiarity with SAFe is a plus.
- Comfortable operating in international and multicultural team environments.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly.
- Strong analytical mindset, paired with a high sense of accountability, ownership, and structured decision‑making.
- Outstanding people leadership skills, including emotional intelligence, conflict management, empathy, and the ability to foster collaborative, team‑oriented cultures.
