We are currently hiring a Data Engineer to join our I&E HUB in Lisbon.

What do we do on our team?
Autonomous vehicles and their surrounding ecosystem are important areas in the strategy of MAN and our partners. Together with digitalization and electrification, they form the building blocks of the future product lineup.
To plan and fulfil their missions correctly and timely, our self-driving vehicles are connected to transport and fleet management systems, as well as customer and authority systems. We provide the platform that integrates, analyzes, and communicates the necessary data between all these systems. This enables us to deliver easy access and economically efficient use of autonomous vehicles to our customers.

What will your responsibilities be?
- You will create and operate data integration and transformation pipelines using modern cloud infrastructure for autonomous vehicle.
- You will analyze, aggregate, and visualize data for usage in our future trucks, using agile methodologies and supporting integral parts of our technical roadmap decisions.
- You will create dashboards, reports and data storage, supporting and interacting with our self-driving systems to track and improve KPIs.
- You will leverage ML and AI methodologies to improve assessment and assistance of real-world situations on the road within fast reaction loops
- You will take care of cloud native services to improve your daily work.
- You will take end to end responsibility for the systems you build, working closely with other departments to explain and present your results.
- You will advise your team and other teams on all questions around data engineering and ML/AI in the autonomous vehicle area and work together on continuously improving your pipelines, tooling and processes.
- You will use your knowledge to optimize overall system performance.
- You will take initiative to solve problems and overcome roadblocks, being the interface between data engineering, software development and the stakeholder. You are a result-oriented individual.
- You are eager to learn new technologies and to find innovative and pragmatic solutions.
- You will guide junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
What requirements are we looking for?
- Master’s degree in a related field or comparable job expertise
- At least 5 years of professional experience in the field
- Proven expertise in applying and understanding data engineering patterns and ML algorithms
- Proven skills in data mining, interpretation, and visualization
- Good proficiency in relevant programming languages, e.g. Python
- Advanced knowledge of Spark
- Expert knowledge of SQL databases and data management practices
- Working knowledge of CDK and typescript
- Proficiency in observability tools, e.g. Datadog, Databricks or Quicksight
- Practical work experience and good knowledge of AWS cloud technology usage for data engineering and ML/AI purposes
- Experience with AI frameworks
- Experience in the DevOps and agile methodologies
- Very good English skills, both written and spoken
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Team-oriented mindset and strong collaboration skills
- Strong analytical skills to solve complex technical issues
- Hands-on experience with the analysis of real-world telematic data (Plus)
- Experience in the automotive industry (Plus)
- Understanding of autonomous driving technologies and trends is an advantage (Plus)
