Brief Role Description

As a working student (m/f/d) at our Bochum location, you will support the System Verification and Test Management teams in their project activities. Your focus will be on supporting vehicle-level testing environments and validating ECU software within the development and integration pipeline. You will work closely with experienced test engineers and test managers, gaining deep insights into system testing and the test management of modern automotive software. Naturally, you can expect a structured onboarding process and dedicated mentoring. 

 

The hourly wage of a working student is €17.50.

Possible Tasks within this Role

  • Automotive Projects: You actively participate in diverse and exciting projects within the automotive sector.

  • Smart Tool Development: You program and build your own software tools to make our testing processes even more efficient.

  • Hands-on ECU Work: You independently flash software updates onto ECUs and keep the systems up to date.

  • Schematic Analysis: You analyze wiring diagrams and schematics to derive the correct wiring setups.

  • Data Handling: You read out and analyze log files, ensuring their structured archiving.

  • Knowledge Management: You create and maintain team- and project-specific documentation and process descriptions to keep everyone on the same page.

  • Presentation Support: You professionally and vividly prepare key project presentations.

Qualification requirements

  • Your Foundation: You are currently enrolled in a STEM-related degree program (Computer Science, Natural Sciences, Engineering, or a comparable field of study).

  • Initial Coding Experience: You have already gained initial hands-on experience with Python or a similar programming language.

  • Tech-Enthusiast: You are passionate about software development and modern tools like Docker, REST APIs, and Git.

  • Embedded Knowledge: Whether from the lecture hall or your hobby basement – terms like Raspberry Pi, Arduino, or home automation are familiar to you.

  • Two Worlds: You feel equally at home working with both Windows and Linux.

  • Your Mindset: You have a structured way of working, are naturally curious, and love diving headfirst into new topics.

  • Language Skills: You are fluent and confident in both German and English (written and spoken).

  • Availability: You can work 16–20 hours per week during the lecture period and are interested in a long-term collaboration (at least 12 months).

  • Mobility: You hold a class B driver's license for occasional assignments.
