Brief Role Description

The Quality Systems Engineer reports to the Manager, Quality System & Safety, and is responsible for supporting the implementation of company-wide processes and systems to implement quality and safety-related programs and maintain certifications such as ISO 9001. The individual will be a highly skilled facilitator, have an understanding of business process development, and be capable of supporting cross-functional teams to define and improve core business processes. The Quality Systems Engineer will serve as a key liaison between the quality management system registrar and the company, ensuring a successful certification and ongoing compliance to ISO 9001 and other quality system standards as required. Individual will develop content and provide support during the internal audits, facilitate developing training presentations, track continuous improvement, closed loop corrective actions, business process management, risk management, and standardized work. Individual will oversee a digital software platform supporting core quality functions including document control, problem investigation, and audit records, and training content. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, quick learning, likes to learn about technical topics, has a strong focus on execution, and is highly motivated to participate in a rapidly emerging industry.

Possible Tasks within this Role

Role Responsibilities;  include percentage of time spent performing each function

Quality Management System Support – 50%

  • Ensure that quality system requirements are established, implemented and maintained following internal and customer quality requirements.
  • Provide analytical support and drive continuous improvements related to business objectives and KPIs, leading cross-functional teams across all relevant departments.
  • Provide support during the Internal and External quality audits.
  • Provide support with corrective and preventative action (CAPA) activity and continuous improvement efforts as they relate to internal and external quality needs.
  • Provide support in developing training contents and implementing via QMS software
  • Develop solutions to a variety of complex problems of diverse scope and complexity where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.

Quality Management Digital Platform & Document Control – 30%

  • Define requirements for a quality system digital platform
  • Onboard and deploy a quality digital platform working with IT and vendor per aligned schedule
  • Provide support with all aspects of digital platform, ensuring core support and utilization of platform for QMS functions
  • Lead a team of area quality management coordinators (AQMCs) to drive documentation control best practices and standardized documentation approaches

Additional responsibilities – 20% of time

  • Change control board participation
  • Other operational or administrative tasks as assigned.

Qualification requirements

Years of Experience: Minimum years of relevant experience needed to perform the job

5-7+ years of relevant professional experience

Education Required:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field 

Skills: General skills needed to perform the job

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to track, follow-up and communicate milestones.
  • Strong and proven self-management abilities and ability to achieve objectives.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills including listening and oral and written presentation of ideas.
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex information.
  • Ability to multi-task and perform a variety of duties including both technical and administrative tasks as needed.
  • Excellent time management and planning skills, ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced, changing environment with shifting priorities.
  • Results oriented / tenacious achiever who get results and works well independently.
  • Excellent computer and software skills – skilled in the use of office, statistical analysis, presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated record of precision & integrity in past work assignments.
  • Demonstrated high level of initiative.

Specialized Skills: Knowledge or certifications unique to this role

Required:

  • Experience in high-tech industry
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Possess knowledge of fundamental Quality Management System and ISO 9001
  • Experience in data analysis, intermediate statistics.
  • Significant experience creating reports and presentations summarizing technical content.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and collaborate cross-functionally.

 Desired:

  • Automotive or EV Charging industry experience
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and Quality Management System
  • Internal Auditor Certification
  • Experience with Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies to drive quality enhancements.
