Brief Role Description
The Senior Data Scientist will be responsible for conceptualizing, building, deploying, and maintaining predictive models used within Electrify America’s infrastructure planning tools and processes. The successful candidate will draw from a background in statistical research to better understand and forecast evolving EV adoption, driving patterns, and charging habits.
Possible Tasks within this Role
Main responsibility – 70%
- Develop new statistical inference models to improve the Infrastructure Planning team’s existing site selection analysis
- Benchmark models against internal and industry data
- Support deployment of models to cloud-infrastructure and help set up a cross-team analysis pipeline pulling from internal and external data sources
Additional responsibilities – 30%
- Work with the Energy Services and Price Performance teams to understand how economic considerations can influence EV driver charging decisions
- Communicate data findings to internal and external teams
Qualification requirements
Years of Experience
- 7+ years of relevant experience
Education – Required
- Undergraduate degree in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
Education – Desired
- Graduate degree in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
Skills
- Analytical and conceptual thinking – using logic and reason, creative and strategic
- Exceptional communication skills – interpersonal, presentation and written
- Integration – joining people, processes or systems
- Problem solving – framing complex issues into solvable questions
- Accomplished project management skills
- Navigating uncertainty and ambiguity
Specialized Skills – Required
- Strong grasp of statistics
- Experience building data models in Python
- Fluency with SQL and relational databases
- Familiarity with econometric modeling and forecasting (e.g. time-series, ARIMA, LSTM)
- Experience with machine learning forecasting approaches, especially to evaluate model accuracy through cross validation
- Experience delivering high-quality analysis and insights with incomplete datasets
Specialized Skills – Desired
- Familiarity or interest in infrastructure, transportation, EVs and EV charging, and/or the energy transition.
- Experience or knowledge of geospatial analysis and geospatial datatypes
- Experience deploying production models to AWS or other cloud-compute infrastructure
Work Flexibility
- Fully Remote Role, but with preference for onsite
- Travel Required up to 10%

In the state of California, the salary range is $106,400 – 212,900.
In the state of Colorado, the salary range is $106,400 – 163,800.
In the state of Washington, the salary range is $106,400 – 178,700.
In New York City, the salary range is $152,100 – 212,900.
In Westchester County, the salary range is $127,600 – 178,700.
In the state of Rhode Island, the salary range is $106,400 – 163,800.
