Brief Role Description

Project Designer: The EA Project Designer is responsible for turning empty lots into EV charging station sites reflecting Electrify America design standards, equipment specifications, and permitting authority requirements for EV charging. Their duties include preparing design plan sets, creating conceptual EV charging layouts, performing quality control reviews (redlining) of  external design firm drawing sets, assessing the cost efficiency of external site designs, researching due diligence requirements that affect site layouts, and incorporating land surveys (including title) into layouts. The Project Designer will report to the Electrify America Operations Design Manager. The Project Designer will collaborate with other staff on the product design supporting EA Field Team members, Real Estate Team, and external design and construction vendors. This candidate will utilize AutoCAD, Civil3D, and Bluebeam for drawing production. This candidate will use Procore for project management record keeping.

Duties Include:

• Importing scaled arial imagery to create conceptual EV charging layouts

• Create civil drawings and details sheets using AutoCAD and/or Bluebeam

• Review survey and due diligence reports to assess site feasibility

• Using Bluebeam Studio, review (redline) external engineering drawings to ensure quality control and adherence to Electrify America site standards.

• Demonstrate an understanding of EA design standards and implement on drawing sets.

• Determining whether a design solution is within EA standards and local AHJ requirements

• Creating multiple iterations of designs for review at CD50, CD90 and CD100 phases.

• Evaluating design solutions against industry standards and regulations

• Follow EA design and construction processes

• Support field team with discussion with AHJ’s

• Support field team with discussion with utilities

 

Skill Set Required

• Associates degree or equivalent work experience

• Advanced site design skills. Minimum 3 years producing site layouts in AutoCAD, ideal candidate will have minimum 3 years using AutoCAD Civil 3D. Preferable experience is creating layouts for commercial retail site layout applications.

• Advanced site design skills using AutoCAD Civil3D, including ability to grade sites to meet ADA requirements.

• Experience with designing sites with new electric service is preferred

• Understanding of how site design informs project utility and construction costs. Ability to recognize design efficiencies and cost adders.

• Experience reviewing drawing plan sets

• End user-focused creative thinking

• Impeccable attention to detail and quality control

• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.

• Excellent problem-solving skills

• Excellent time management and prioritization skills

• Effective oral and written communication

Salary range is dependent on factors such as geographical differentials, industry-based experience, skills, training, credentials, and other qualifications. 

The salary range is $70,000-$85,000.
