We are currently hiring an Electrical Layout Designer at our offices in Valencia (Spain), to join the Engineering team for new projects within the Volkswagen Group.

 

Our Engineering department takes responsibility for supporting our Volkswagen Group partners in projects within diverse industries and areas such as industrialization, layout design, fire protection, civil, electrical, mechanical and process engineering. 

 

What will your responsibilities be?

 

As an Electrical Layout Designer, you are responsible for creating technical layouts for facilities, machinery, and electrical systems and support engineering design.

 

Under this position, primarily you will be in charge of:

 

    • Support the layout development process from initial concept through to final approval, ensuring alignment with spatial, functional, and technical project requirements.
    • Design technical concepts and layouts for all areas of a factory, including buildings, equipment, and welfare facilities.
    • Act as the interface between equipment, infrastructure and external supplier regarding layout-related topics.
    • Manage and update layout documentation, including technical drawings, revision logs, coordination plans, and installation references.
    • Develops electrical design (LV/MV distribution, grounding, lighting, and power systems).
    • Technical requirements and calculations.
    • Performs full technical review of supplier Identifies risks and non-compliance issues.
    • Validates supplier technical solutions.
    • Participates in coordination of technical interfaces & validation for electrical installations.
    • Coordinates corrections with suppliers and contractors.
    • Analyzes impact on cost, schedule and technical performance.
    • Prepare proposals and recommendations for supporting project decisions.
    • Support Interfaces with authorities and utility providers.

 

Secondary Functions:

 

    • Assist in defining layout requirements during early project phases and translate them into practical planning concepts.
    • Verify that all technical drawings comply with internal standards and ensure their accurate integration into the Volkswagen-specific database and documentation systems.
    • Evaluate the technical feasibility of proposed solutions and designs.
    • Support compliance with internal standards, safety guidelines, and applicable legal requirements related to construction and installation within the layout design.

 

What requirements are we looking for?

 

Mandatory requirements:

 

    • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Architectural, MEP, Industrial Engineering or related field.
    • Mandatory Revit skill: Expert level: 7 or higher on a 1-10 scale, 2+ years experience.
    • Electrical/MEP Layout designing expertise.
    • Fluency in English and Spanish. Knowledge of German language is nice to have.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in design of industrial buildings.
    • Development of planning scopes and methods for complex construction scopes

 

Nice to have:

 

    • Proficiency working with HLS (Hall Layout System)
    • Experience in BIM (3D Design)
    • Experience with Oracle Primavera for data exchange

    • Strong collaborative and interpersonal ability
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Expertise in time management and the ability to meet deadlines
    • Ability to understand technical drawings and plans
