We are currently hiring a Platform Engineer to join our I&E HUB in Lisbon.

What do we do on our team?
Core Connectivity team is a part of the Vehicle Connectivity ecosystem and is responsible for the stream-based communication channel between the MAN vehicles and the cloud backend that supports the digital products in the MAN portfolio.
We are an agile and self-managed DevOps team which develops all services and cloud infrastructure (AWS) needed to assure the encrypted robust and reliable communication channel the MAN customers need for their day-to-day work.
We work in a Product oriented development, and our team owns the product and has autonomy to decide how the product will evolve.
Our product provides, among other services, Secure Connectivity, message routing, message decoding, vehicle APIs, integration with other systems and manages client certificates for the connected devices.
What will your responsibilities be?
- Working in the context of automotive IoT you will create, test, deploy and run (DevOps) backend solutions and internal tools using modern cloud infrastructure;
- You will develop and maintain functionality for our trucks using agile methodologies, being responsible for integral parts of our technical roadmap;
- You will create products, prototypes and MVPs for near-vehicle services;
- You take care of cloud native microservices using containers, serverless functions, RESTful APIs and event streaming;
- You will be able to take end to end responsibility for the products you build, including usage of hardware test setups to validate combability with embedded systems;
- You advise your team and other teams on all questions around backend and tool development in an automotive IoT environment and work together on continuously improving the service, tooling and processes;
- You take initiative to solve problems and overcome roadblocks, being the interface between electrical engineers, IT technology and the user;
- You are a result-oriented individual;
- You are happy to learn new technologies and to solve problems in innovative and pragmatic ways.
What requirements are we looking for?
- Bachelor's degree in related field or comparable job expertise;
- At least 5 years of professional experience;
- Design data pipelines and streaming applications using Kafka and associated technologies;
- Create and maintain documentation of the Kafka architecture, including data flow diagrams, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures;
- Set up and configure Kafka clusters, topics, producers, consumers, and connectors
- Ensure secure, high-availability, and fault-tolerant Kafka environments
- Implement best practices for data retention, partitioning, replication, and monitoring
- Monitor Kafka clusters performance and troubleshoot issues related to scalability, latency, and throughput
- Implement monitoring and alerting systems for Kafka health and performance using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent;
- Work closely with other teams to integrate Kafka with other systems and applications;
- Provide technical support and guidance to development teams on Kafka-related issues;
- Stay updated with the latest developments in Kafka and related technologies;
- Experience in building infrastructure using AWS IaC (Cloudformation / CDK);
- Solid experience with backend development in Java / Kotlin / Python with focus on RESTful APIs and event driven architecture.
