Quality Readiness Controller
Applications are invited from suitably qualified & experienced candidates to fill the Quality Readiness Controller position in the QA Fine Measuring Room Department - Quality Assureance (Kariega)
Brief Role Description
To co-ordinate all activities and resources within Quality Assurance to ensure achievement of objectives for all part approvals in line with the PEP Manual and corporate timing bobjectives. Implement and maintain the systemized part approval in BEON, with both internal personnel and external suppliers
Possible Tasks within this Role
- To co-ordinate all activities and resources within Quality Assurance to ensure achievement of objectives for all part approvals and corporate timing objectives.
- Implement and maintain the systemized part approval (The online part approval system), with both internal personnel and external suppliers.
- Represent the Quality Assurance division in the Product Planning Team (cross-divisional) by providing the divisional inputs and requirements to enable accurate project planning and tracking.
- As the KEY USER for the (on-line part approval system), train and mentor VWSA and supplier personnel on the use of the system through coaching sessions and telephonic support to increase efficiency and accuracy of electronically submitted documentation.
- Review the effectiveness of the part approval process by monitoring the planned vs actual approval milestones to implement process efficiency measures with all key role players thereby maximizing the cost benefit of local content.
- Tracking and reporting on the parts readiness status to the relevant Quality counterparts when the supply source or design has been changed, through monitoring the milestones and current status in order to ensure that the Quality division is well informed and maintains the agreed deadlines.
- Limit line disruptions and/or quality problems at introduction of new/changed components by coordinating the part fitment process with all relevant departments to ensure that the components are fit for use in the series production environment.
- Ensure that parts that are in the release process .standards through early communication with the Quality Engineer and supplier as well as trial information to be captured during the fitment approval process, thereby securing traceability of components in the event of any field campaign.
- Present and highlight part approval status and delays in cross divisional meetings through the compilation of a part submission and readiness overview based on the part approval process inputs to enable informed decisions at management level for the escalation
Qualification requirements
Technical National Diploma or Tertiary qualification in Business/Production Management
Experience needed
Minimum of 4 years’ experience in an automotive environment related to quality systems, with a thorough knowledge of VWSA models, options and systems
Essentials
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Basic understanding of the vehicle components and their fitment and function characteristics
- Problem solving abilities
- Ability to make use of the necessary Q-Tools (DQE, Ishikawa,etc)
- Ability to communicate at all levels in the organization.
- Ability to make informed decisions
- Ability to confidently represent Quality Assurance at various forums
- Conflict Management skills
- Good presentation skills
