Who are we?
At the Innovation & Engineering Hub, we develop bold, market-ready solutions that support Volkswagen Group and its leading brands. We’re not just manufacturing vehicles — we’re engineering the future of mobility.
What do we do on our team?
The team is responsible for a stream-based communication channel between commercial vehicles and the cloud backend that enables digital products. The team embodies an agile and self-managed DevOps mindset and methodology, developing all services and cloud infrastructure (AWS) necessary to ensure a high-available, reliable, and secure communication channel that customers require for their day-to-day work.
We work in a product-oriented development, own the Product, and have the autonomy to decide how the Product will evolve.
The Product provides, among other services, secure connectivity, message routing, message decoding, vehicle APIs, integration with other systems, and manages client certificates for the connected devices.
What will your responsibilities be?
- Design, create, test, deploy, and run (DevOps) our event streaming platform on cloud-native infrastructure, being responsible for the entire software lifecycle;
- Develop, test and maintain related microservices in state-of-the-art programming languages, using containers, serverless functions, and RESTful APIs;
- Develop and maintain functionality for our trucks using agile methodologies;
- Create prototypes, Minimum Valuable Products (MVPs), and products;
- Be able to take end-to-end responsibility for the products owned;
- Take initiative to solve problems and overcome roadblocks;
- Solve problems in innovative and pragmatic ways;
- Advise the team and other teams as an expert in event-based communication and cloud infrastructure in an automotive IoT environment, and work together on continuously improving the service, tooling, and processes.
What requirements are we looking for?
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or comparable job expertise;
• At least 5 years of professional experience;
• Experience in using and integrating AWS cloud services (AWS ECS, DynamoDB, Lambda) with cloud paradigms like Infrastructure-as-code (AWS CDK and CloudFormation), PaaS, alerting, and monitoring;
